India Travel Destinations, the tour guide, offers a golden opportunity to partake of the stylish and debonair pleasures of skiing in India which is tourism with a difference. Skiing in India perforce refers to the various centers of skiing, which undertake skiing in India as part of a larger picture of adventure tourism in India.
Skiing is yet another offering of adventure tourism in India which is tourism with a difference. Skiing as a sport can be a very thrilling and exhilarating experience, which does not require special gear like other higher end sports of the same genre. Any interested soul can take up the sport with a bit of discipline and a sense of following directions. Places where a tourist can whizz past his worries include, Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir, Auli in Garawhal, Kufri and Narkanda in Himachal Pradesh.
Skiing is one sport which is not limited to the mighty Himalayas or the hill stations alone. Water skiing is another addition to the whole structure of skiing in India but it is also very much a part of the whole calendar of skiing in India. "Swoosh" and away goes the water skier in this latest addition of adventure tourism in India.
Here, too as tourism with a difference, the tourist only needs to be aware of the basic skill of swimming as the boat easily accomplishes the rest of the tugging part.
India Travel Destinations provides a whole array of packages to undertake the brisk sport of skiing in India as one of the latest additions to the genre of adventure tourism in India. |
In winter, Gulmarg acquires a new persona - that of the country's premier skiing resorts. Skiing, to many who watch it on TV, seems like a very elitist sport, requiring a high level of training and expensive equipment. They are surprised, when they visit Gulmarg for a day's expedition to see the snow, that others with the same level of physical fitness and training are skiing down slopes.
Gulmarg is the ultimate beginner's skiing resort. One doesn't requite a heavy woolen wardrobe - slacks or a Salwar Kameez will do fine. In Gulmarg one will also be able to drift to one of the many Ski shops and hire skis, sticks and goggles. Just find yourself a ski instructor and set off down a slope.
Neither does one need to exert oneself climbing up slopes. The gentlest slope of 200m is linked with a ski lift, which helps one to go up. When one graduates to intermediate level - which will happen after the first few days of practice, there are other slopes, longer and steeper, which are connected by chair lift. The longest ski run in Gulmarg is provided by the Gondola cable car, which allows a ski run of 2,213m.
